Through our comprehensive Environmental, Social, Health & Safety (ESHS) Management Plans, and specifically our Code of Conduct, Hitech staff are required to follow all listed company guidelines on Ethics and Business Conduct, which include details of the following policies and practices:

Our Commitment to Compliance, Integrity, and Responsible Business

At HITECH Construction Company Ltd., we uphold the highest standards of environmental, social, and ethical conduct. We are fully aligned with Nigerian regulations and international frameworks, including the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles IV, ISO 14001/45001, and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP). Our internal policies guide responsible behavior across all operations, from construction safety to anti-corruption. These include:

Each of these policies is publicly available and monitored through HITECH's Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), which supports continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and project transparency.

Confidential Reporting and Whistleblower Function

We have established a confidential Whistleblower Function to allow employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to safely report any unethical behavior, fraud, corruption, discrimination, or violations of company policy.

  3. Protection: All reports are treated confidentially. Retaliation is strictly prohibited.

Reports may be submitted anonymously. Investigations are carried out independently and corrective actions implemented as appropriate. This mechanism reflects our commitment to transparency and accountability, in line with lender expectations and best practice.

Local Content Policy

At Hitech Construction Company Limited, our local content development policy is our obligation to local communities in our areas of operation. However, our strategy is implemented in a manner that is not at a disadvantage to our client's primary objectives, as far as operational efficiency and technical integrity are concerned. Our primary policies include but not limited to the following:

  • Long term use of local financial institutions to fund projects and manage financial accounts (debtors and creditors).
  • Procurement of all necessary materials for a project would be sourced locally, except certain products or commodities are not available locally or at client's request.
  • Employment of staff from local communities who are qualified and capable of being responsible for their official duties. Encourage the transfer of knowledge between expatriates and local employees.
  • Hitech Construction Company Limited is willing to build relationships with other indigenous companies around our operating countries that are mutually beneficial. Similar relationships with foreign institutions are acceptable, as long as they appreciate and contribute to our content policy.
  • Hitech Construction Company Limited encourages capacity building by training our staff in relevant areas.
  • Employee Awareness: We prioritize sustainability awareness and environmental management in employee training.

We also utilize a continuous assessment procedure on our suppliers and sub-contractors, which is aimed at increasing health and safety, environmental responsibility and quality of goods and services. All of which are of mutual benefit.
